MFMA Conference 2012

From March 1st through 3rd, the Aacer Sports Flooring team assembled with some of our dealer network at the MFMA Conference in Rancho Mirage, CA. A great time was had by all in the desert, as we showed our appreciation for our customers, and expressed excitement for the coming year.

The Aacer team, consisting of dealers, our regional managers, technical manager, VP of Sales & Marketing Kevin Barker, and CEO Gordy Boyd also witnessed the induction of Bruce Stalker into the MFMA Hall of Fame, Aacer’s first inductee since 2006. Floyd Shelton, of Arizona Gym Floors and Gym Floor Inspectors, gave an emotional induction speech, recalling his late friend from the days of Superior Flooring. It was a moment the entire Aacer family can take pride in, with one of our own being so highly honored. In addition, we were able to celebrate Steve Stalker’s birthday on March 2nd. Happy birthday again, Steve!

The MFMA Conference was well-managed, as always, by the MFMA with informative sessions that benefitted all in attendance.  We look forward to the next MFMA Conference in 2014.

Tom Blakeman (Blake Steven’s Wood Flooring) was the school instructor with over 30 years of experience in the field.  Mr. Blakeman and attendees utilized the school to try different sanding equipment and various paper patterns to show what works best with the variety of domestic species. They experimented with stains and water popping and practiced a few different finish applications. “All in all, I think this was a good group and I think we all learned something new over the last couple of days,” said Blakeman.

Blake Stevens has been offering their “sand and finish school” for the past ten years and encourages those new to the industry as well as veterans to sharpen their skills by attending this event. Each school has been a success and they hope to continue the schools in years to come.
